About Me

Nice to Meet You!

Originally from Bellingham, Washington, I moved to Ellensburg to attend Central Washington University to pursue an M.A. in Literary Studies with a Teaching Specialization. Having graduated from Western Washington University with a B.A. in Creative Writing and Literary Studies and minors in Environmental Studies and Technical Writing, I wanted to continue my academic journey by studying pedagogy and transfer while teaching ENG 101 as a graduate teaching assistant. In my graduate program at Central Washington University, graduate teaching assistants have full jurisdiction over the classroom, teaching a full 5-credit, Monday through Friday course.

Dr. Dan Martin's role-reversal pedagogy professional development drew me to CWU, but the creative writing professors, literary criticism classes, and leadership opportunities through the Graduate Student Association proved that grad school was the best next step to reach my educational and professional goals.

Post-grad, I plan to teach abroad for a few years, making use of my TEFL certification while studying international education systems and pedagogies. In the long term, I strive to contribute to a cohort of English professors who support student-centered and anti-racist pedagogies, and support dialogic, socio-constructive teaching methodologies. I will also continue contributing to the field of pedagogy research at the collegial level.
